Either of which can wait until I get up and turn it down or leave the room....

Ahh... the good o'l days. You get up every 20 minutes to change the record. The health experts now say you should get out of your chair every 20 minutes.

Listening to analog is healthier?

My new preamp has a remote and I would love it more if I could find it!

Every few minutes with 78's. And if you had no electricity, you wound up the spring for the motor.

If I might share an old memory. My father's 78 turntable had stopped working but he wanted to play me a performance by San Roma of Liszt's Totendanz. He duly got everything set up with the needle in the groove and then used his finger to propel the platter round and round at a very approximate 78 rpm. If you want to hear the performance, it's here and it is a rip snorter of a performance. I read somewhere that he learned the piece just prior to recording it.

It looks great. We are waiting for your upcoming review and we will be particularly interested in how you do the remote volume control.

:character-oldtimer: Gum dries out and becomes ineffective... Put some velcro on the volume knob, and a matching piece on the end of the stick ;)
