Re: My ever changing ALTECs ... Sell the old to fund the NEW

Actually, my feeling on other people's audio choices mirrors my feelings about other's sexual adventures: Do whatever turns you on as long as I don't have to participate!

And I might prefer to not even watch!

Ssshh - don't give away ALL my secrets ...
as we all know, Local-Only sales can be tough in small towns. And I still have the expense of getting them here! And finding just how "pristine" they truly are ... tho I am basically an optimist, I have a strong dash of realist pushing to the top!

But yes - I am selling the Model 15s for only what I have in them over the 60 days I owned them -
anyone is free to PM me an offer and see if I take it, tho I suspect you are a small and VERY frugal crowd (much as I am!)
... and only buy things when you find DEALZ (much as I do!).
As Joe says - they have great value in the long term view ... and it shouldn't be tough to get the needed parts to finish them - and I'll even sell them without the JBL woofers to be more affordable!

Send me a PM - make an offer!

Not to worry they're built like wood tanks. The capacitors are paper -- not the best in the world but reliable. As far as the drivers are concerned I've got your "6."

Thank you.
I made a real fair offer - when I listed them I said pay me what I have in them and PM me -
someone did, and wanted all 3! I sweetened the deal $25 and we are both reall happy!

Gotta put the empty Cabinets somewhere tho -
I need FLOOR SPACE for the Heaths arriving by the weekend!!!

If that giveaway thread is still on AK, there were a few other locals after those M15 cabs.

I think Aker Roger Federer was one.

I TRIED to give the Cabinets away for 3 weeks. Listed here, on AudioKarma and I even posted them in DC CL for $20 (a bit less than what I paid for the wheels and the 5-way connector/cups I put on the bottom) on the logic that people will buy cheap while they shun "free". I was even prepared to let potential CL buyers "haggle me down" to $5 or $10, but the only response I got was some would be scammer from out of state (What part of Local pickup did he miss in the ad??).
No one was interested so after 3 weeks I quit pimping them!
And rather than curb these boxes, I decided to use them as woofer boxes to build something new around.
I had recently won some Fostex Studio Monitor drivers and horns, so, I got some plywood, cut it to 18 x 7 inches to make "planks" to put inside the cabinet and cover the 32 horn holes, slapped some minwax stain on it, put some construction goop around the edges to seal it to the baffleboard, and covered the holes.
I know the JBL 2214H drivers fits the hole and plays well in that cabinet - so I'll need to make a panel to cover the original crossover/control hole on the baffle, and to hold the controls for mid and tweeter levels on the crossovers I am building for this 3 way project.

ITS PROBABLY SAFE TO CLOSE THIS THREAD NOW -
