DIYTube ST35 Board, Assembled, with Transformers

May 25th, 2016, 6:01 pm

Clearing out my unfinished projects bin. I have a stuffed DIYTube (DIYZone) ST-35 Rev C circuit board and set of Edcor output transformers, power transformer, and choke. The sockets are mounted to the top side of the board (i.e., board is stuffed with the components hanging from underneath with the board mounted to a chassis top plate using standoffs. I have wired this up to accept an external tube rectifier (5AR4), but this is not included on the board. Coupling caps are Multicap PPFX, power supply capacitors are high quality long life Nichicons, and cathode bypass capacitors are ELNA Silmic II. Resistors are IRC metal film. The circuit board is high quality, 1/8" 2oz. glass epoxy substrate.

The pictures show the assembled board, manual (Rev D), and transformers. A tube set will be included, at least something to get things started. Due to the higher than normal B+, 7189 tubes are recommended, though you can play around with this at your convenience.

I am looking for $325 (price revised downward after looking more closely at the transformer cost, which is around $180, total). This basically represents my approximate sunk cost into this. I will also include additional parts such as binding posts and RCA jacks. It would not take much work to turn this into a functional amplifier, just buy or make a chassis. It could be as simple as a 12" square aluminum plate, and punch/drill holes for the tubes and the transformers. You can fabricate a simple wooden frame to support the plate. If you need help in the layout and punching, I may be able to help, but my time is very limited until the middle of June.
