Anyone have a pair of speaker cabinets of suitable volume/size for Altec 604s they would be willing to sell? Ideally around 9-10 cubic feet, but I will be augmenting them with subs so I can likely go smaller.

Alternatively, does anyone have a spare sheet of 18mm baltic birch they would be willing to sell, or have a recommendation where to buy one. I have some BB but would need an additional sheet to finish a set of cabinets without having the end grain of cheap home despot ply showing in various places and this is with using the HD ply for the removable rear panels... The reason I'm asking is that the neighborhood plywood vendor in Baltimore upped their minimum purchase to $500.

Thanks,

KC

Baltimore is a close as I could find to Bel Air using Rabbi Google. Call them and see what they have.

I'm lucky, the Woodworker's Club in Rockville is only 5 miles from me and they usually have some.

I have a pair of 620 cabinets in fair, but easily fixable condition…. I’m in MT until Wednesday, i’ll get some pictures when I get back.

Hi Brombo, Chesapeake is my normal go to.

They have always been great to work with but they are holding fast on the minimum purchase of $500 and I don't have space to store 6 sheets!

I would be a long trip but call the Woodworkers Club -

https://woodworkersclub.com/

I have bought single sheets there before. They also have 1 inch mdf and lots of other stuff. But call first. They also have a large numerically controlled x-y router.

Here's the pics. As you can see, the corners need to be glued/clamped back together....

They remind me of a pair of AR3A I picked up recently. These AR's were left out on wet grass and experienced a little bit of rain. Fortunately the veneer was somewhat thick and I was able to save it and repair the underlying press board by cutting and picking out the loose stuff to create a void and they used epoxy resin and clamps to make them square.

Will shoot you a PM.
