Walt,

It was sold to a friend in the DCAudioDIY community who will appreciate it. The amp you linked to uses expensive Emission Labs 45 tubes, 76 drivers, DC heaters on the 45s (current source?). More sophisticated than the simple and inexpensive Rankin based design posted in Sound Practices that I built years ago. I believe it is rather overpriced given the obvious chassis damage (or poor construction) and use of good, but not top quality output transformers (James).

As it turns out I got a major improvement with my Carys by upgrading to Emission Labs mesh-plate 300Bs.

It wasn't even a contest between those and my other 300Bs.

So -- at about $700 per pair for the EML 45s alone, the store bought 45 SET amps. may not be such a bad buy after all.

I am after all a vacuum-tube addict (valves). :ugeek:

I just did a Google search, and found the builder of the amp for sale on eBay is a custom builder (Radu Tarta) up in Norwich, Connecticut. Apparently he uses goodies like Coleman DC regulators for the filaments, and the build quality appears to be quite high. His other equipment looks very nice. Still, alot for 2W, but in the right horn-based system, it could be magic.
