Looking for a DEQX or something similar

February 8th, 2019, 5:30 pm

I want to try different drivers and configurations on my evolving speaker mods and figure it will be much easier if I triamp and do the crossover digitally. I don't know whether it will stay that way or not. If you have a multi-channel DAC with USB in and DSP on board to implement a crossover that you can lend and maybe sell let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

I have a Behringer DCX 2496 you can borrow.

I have a functionally equivalent DBX unit you’re welcome to. Both the Behringer & DBX units lack USB audio in, but do have AES/EBU in...

Dave, Ask Rich Hollis about the crossover he uses. dspMusik I think?

Going Multi-Channel?

If you are looking for permanently using Multichannel DAC w/Room Correction and Crossover built in, check with Rich. For prototyping, I would suggest multichannel miniDSP at about $500 new.

Thanks for the replies. I have a Singxer SU-1 which takes USB in and provides a variety of formats out, including AES/EBU. So I believe I'm in good shape in that regard.

I'm not going multi-channel. As I said I'm looking for a digital crossover first, other features are a bonus, at least for now. Which MiniDSP unit are you suggesting?

I've had a brief encounter with the DSPMusik, while I'm sure it will do more than I want I found the interface to be not all that easy to use. If Rich lived next door it would be great, although I suspect he'd come to pretend he's not home.

I have DriveRack PA2 which Is ideal for prototyping upto stereo 3-way 4th order LR and Butterworth on the fly. It has web/app interface which lets you change the crossovers on the fly. You can borrow and or buy it if you like. It works in digital domain,ie, D-A and A-D.

I used it and now it is replaced by PLLXO.

If you need only stereo, You might want to get the entry level MiniDSP for about $100. I believe Brombo offered one for loan on this forum.

Dave,
I have a DEQX 2.6P you can borrow to try out with the PC software, calibrated mic to use for measurements for crossover use.

The dspMusikLCD sounds better. It is easy to setup most digital crossovers if you have measurements to work with. The development system runs on a PC. I can setup a PC with my license to try it out.

Thanks to all for the offers. I want to keep the signal digital into the processor, so the DBX DriveRack PA2 with analog only inputs does not satisfy that requirement. I looks like a cool product and I would have liked to have played with it if it had digital in.

I'm guessing Rich's DEQX 2.6P is likely to be the best one for me to move forward with in the end, but I'd also like to try the Behringer DCX 2496 and Roscoe's DBX unit if it has digital in.

Unfortunately, my butt is being kicked by a nasty cold right now so I can't jump into the car to pick anything up. I'll be in touch when I'm feeling better and not contagious to pick the equipment up.

Thanks all for the offers, I really appreciate it.
