To all,

I am selling my beautiful handcrafted D3A/300B DRD (direct coupled) monoblock SET amplifiers that have been the mainstay of my system for the past few years. The amplifiers have a non-ringing all wooden chassis, natural oak sides, baltic birch plywood top, with solid bubinga socket board for the tubes. They using Electraprint output transformers, and currently have Shuguang Black Treasure 300B-Z output tubes with a Siemens D3A driver (triode connected). The D3A is a 10,000 hr tube, so has several years of playing before needing replacement. The driver is diode biased using silicon carbide rectifiers (Cree).

The amps have been utterly reliable, except for output tube replacement. Many of you have heard these amplifiers in my system and at the Capitol Audio Fest driving my Basszilla Platinum Edition speakers and have remarked positively on their sound.

As much as I have enjoyed these amplifiers over the years, my most recent GM70 amplifier build have totally upstaged them in my system, and I have no desire to go back. It is a shame to have these collecting dust, and given that my Marantz SACD player finally in need of replacement (after three transport replacements), I have decided to sell these units. The amplifiers are in pristine shape, if a little dusty, and should give a long lifetime of use.

It is difficult to place a price tag on something that one cared so much for during the conception and creation. Comparable kits (such as the Welborne 300B amplifiers) were around $1700 a decade ago. The latest Audiogon listing shows a pair of completed mono Bottlehead Paramount 2A3 kits for $2000, and a pair of new DIY HiFi LadyDay 300B monoblocks for $2050 a pair. I believe this represents a reasonable floor in setting the price.

Therefore, I am offering my 300B DRD amplifiers for $2000 firm, which will include the current tubes installed (only a couple hundred hours on the 300Bs), plus an extra set of lightly used EH300B Golds as a backup set of output tubes. The D3As have alot of life in them.

Now for the pictures and schematic

Back up for sale. These are too nice to be gathering dust. Reduce price to $1500 for the pair.
