Howdy,

Stumbled on this site while searching the web and found some interesting threads. Even though you folks are on the other side of the country, thought it might be great to establish some new friends and learn along the way.

I'm a long-time hifi addict who loves both tubes and good solid state gear.

Kind regards,

Steve (Apogee)

Hey Steve. I'm a DC area expat currently living in Southern Oregon. If you ever get down this way I'd be happy to meet up. Or if you have something interesting you're working on I could be persuaded to make the trip up there. :-) Been looking for fellow DIYers out here but maybe not hard enough. There must be some in the Portland or SF areas...

Where are you in WA?

Hi Grover,

I'm located in the Tacoma area. If I find myself heading south or working on something interesting I'll definitely drop you a note. One never knows...

Thanks to all for the welcome!

Steve

Grover,
NY expat here in the SF area. I don't know a lot of hard core tube DIYers here but there is an annual event in SF called Burning Amp. Most participants hang out on diyaudio and there are quite a few of Nelson Pass fanboys in attendance. Still a fun time. Next one is Sunday Nov 12. Details here http://www.burningamp.org/
A bit of a haul but driveable from southern Oregon.

THanks, Gary, that's great to hear! I'll check it out. I might just go. We run down to SF all the time so we're used to the drive. I can always use an excuse to stop at Ikea. :-)

Seeing you live in the Tacoma area, you might like to drive up to the monthly get together of the Bottlehead group in Bainbridge Island. They are very friendly and there is a lot of knowledge among the members.

Thanks Ray for the tip! I'm definitely going to check it out.

Grover, you should strongly consider attending Burning Amp. I've wanted to go for years and just never have. I'm a huge Pass fan and Nelson always attends and gives interesting presentations. Well worth the time imho!
