Hello. My name is Scott. I live on the other side of the Chesapeake bay in Maryland. I started in electronics by recapping a guitar amp which turned into an all out mod fest. I then built a cheap 50eh5 tube amp.  From there I built a First Watt Aleph J which I have spent the last couple years modding and understanding the circuit. I am now planing on going back to tubes because my AC is just not happy battling a SS, class A heater in the summertime. I'm thinking a DHT might be nice. I will be at the Capital Audio Fest also.

Scott, it's great to meet you! Your AC may not get a lot of relief by switching to a DHT, but your ears probably will! You never know.

It will be a bit of a trip for meets, but, hey, we drive over to Roscoe's in the wilds of Virginia. It can't be worse, right? I hope you find this group useful - I know I do!

As guy said, you're not going to gain much in the cooling department switching to DHTs, especially if you go big. It takes 32.5W just to heat an 845, not to mention the plate dissipation

Hmmm. Thats more then I thought. But still less then the 200 watts I'm burning at idle now. More to think about.
