Hi everyone,

Vassil from Chicago here. Most of my system is DIY - Lenco based turntable, DIY phono stage and line stage. Troels Gravesen's OBL11 speakers (DIY and soon to be replaced with OBL15's), all cables are DIY too. My amps (Audio Mirror) and DAC (Ayre Codex) are the only non-DIY components in my system (and cartridge / tonearm of course).

Welcome Vassil,

Sounds like an interesting system. How do you like the Codex?

Bruce.

I like the Codex. I had the Nad M51 DAC and demo-ed the Codex at the same time. I liked the Codex much more, so I ended up selling the Nad and buying the Codex. It's an excellent DAC in my opinion. It also works great with my HD800 headphones, but I have never tested any other headphone amps to be able to compare.

The only issues I have with the Codex is that there is no remote control and it's kind of small and not sturdy enough - hard to hookup a thick power cord and keep it upright.

Vassils, I am looking for suggestions on DIY interconnects. Why? Because the spacing of the various phono jacks on the vintage HH Scott amps are too close together to use typical fat audiophile connectors, so I need to make up my own. Back in the day, this was not an issue for Scott and other manufacturers as everyone was using those skinny wire connectors which fit fine. Nowadays, the big-ass connectors are too big to use side-by-side. The only one I have that works is a pair I made with DH Labs Silver Sonic cable and Radio Shack gold connectors years ago. Now I need to make up more pairs, do you have any suggestions?

I don't know if j-rob still has any of those rhodium plated switchcraft plugs, but they're good if he does...

BTW, :text-worthless:

Are they small enough in outside diameter to fit side-by-side on Scott integrateds?

It appears that the barrel is no bigger than the ground connection. I selected that one because of the quality.

There are many others on eBay to pick from.
