I'd like to give a big hello to everyone on the forum. I'm currently living in the Silver Spring area. Although not a hardcore diyer, I've been into the audio hobby for many years. I'm particularly interested in vintage audio w/ an affinity for the classic formula of low power tube amplification and high efficiency horns.

I haven't had too much diy experience but I'd like to start by building a nice set of 2-way speakers using a pair of jbl 2420 1'' compression drivers I've had laying around for the past few years.

The pic is of my modest living room setup consisting of the following:

Klipsch Tangent 500 Speakers (Same components in the Heresy II with the addition of a passive radiator)

Channel Islands Audio DAC & high current power supply

1959 Pilot 240 Integrated Amplifier

Sony PS-X5 Turntable

ALTEC 314a Emperor Royale Tuner

at the bottom is a Marantz 2216 reciever, although not in use at the moment.

I look forward to meeting everyone and learning as much as I can!

-Max

Hi Max!

Maybe you would be interested in a pair of completely overhauled and modified Radio Craftsman C400 mono-block amps.

They love horns and will drive the Klipsches with ease and your future DIY JBLs.

Walt

Beautiful mono blocks! Nice restoration. I've always liked the look of Radio Craftsman gear. PM Sent.

Good to meet you, Max!
You say your system is modest - I love it! One reason I'm a club member is to get ideas from other members' system that will improve my system, but I just like listening and relaxing to music. I bet your system does that nicely! :)
