Getting back into DIY speakers in Chantilly, VA

January 15th, 2020, 12:00 am

Hi all, I've got the speaker bug again and thought it would be fun to discuss things with locals. I first started DIY in the late 90s, but I took about a decade off from 2006-2016. I got into DIY because it was the only way I could afford great audio, and when I started my career I didn't need it anymore. Eventually I came up with a unique design concept and the only way to hear it was to build it, so I did. It turned out well and I have people asking me to tailor it for different situations, so now I've got a number of projects going on.

Great to have you on board
We have many members who build or tweak speaker systems. You have a big ear near.

Since I was intrigued by the 'big ear' concept, I googled it and along with the usual expected images of fake large ears, found this piece of history.

Welcome! There are definitely some big ears in the group. A few golden ears as well. I'm looking forward to learning about your concept.
