Just want to report: I was using Micromega MyDac and was very happy with it sound.
Recently I replace it with the MiniDSP-HD, which can accept digital in via USB, so no need to go through the ADC that plugged the old version.
Unfortunately, the sound is much worse than the old Micromega...With the MyDac, the sound was so wide. The loudspeaker really disappear! with the MiniDSP, not at all!
What a shame...

Did you also try the analog inputs?

Agreed. If you happen to be following my thread about the Caver Amazing Loudspeaker rebuild, I tried using the 2X4 MiniDSP as an electronic xover for the biamped Cavers.
For the woofers the mini was fine but the ribbons which run from 150hz on up were un-listenable. The digital artifacts just destroyed the music.
I have since switched to a Litz-Riley xover for the ribbons and keeping the MiniDSP for the woofer because I do need the programmable EQ.
The MiniDSP is an example of great technology that sounds simply horrible.
This is the second time I have tried the MiniDSP. A few years ago I tried the first version of this product and found the same results, but I got suckered in trying the new HD revision as being touted as a huge improvement.
Boy that was just the biggest pile of BS.

Here is the one I use with my open baffle line arrays with great results.

Tried DCX2496 and DEQX-2.6P as a comparison, and this one has great sounding DAC's. Heard the MiniDSP and did not like it in another demo.

How much does the danvill cost and did you get it directly from danvill?

They no longer sell them direct last I talked to Danville.

Since this is a DIY site, not sure about posting more info since I am now the company selling them.

I'm soooo stupiiiiid!....
The setup that I run was summarize both channels after the crossover point into EACH channel...kind of semi mono....
So, it actually sound decent! and Rosco will probably revoke my membership...

I've got one of the digital only MiniDSP boards (SP/DIF in, 3x SP/DIF out) but I haven't done anything with it yet. I wonder if the sonic issues you guys are having are the result of bad DSP or bad A/D & D/A conversion? :confusion-confused:
