Just a general observation, YMWV. My phono stage (based loosely on the Marantz 7) was severely lacking in bass extension and punch. I was running new production Mullard 12AX7's as I had seen some comments on them being quite quiet and having low microphonics. I was seriously thinking about going back to the drawing board, but on a whim, I installed Psvane 12AX7s and wow, what a difference. This is with absolutely no hours on the clock! I also installed their 6SN7 substitute (CV181) into my line stage. This was a bit of a gamble as my line stage had only given decent bass with EH 6SN7s. Anyhow, again with zero hours on the clock, they were wonderful sounding. I'll post my impression after we get some miles on the odometer.

Anyhow, I'm glad I tried them.

Not trying to start a brand war, as I know Sonics are a very personal thing. It just had been a while since I bought anything that exceeded my expectations and wanted to share.

Be interested to hear how the CV181s compare to a decent NOS 6SN7?
