Gee, this guy really gets around. When he's talking about his maple, recording, gear, close up listening position, etc., he's quite informative and entertaining. Really nice guy.

When he's talking about his real field of expertise, it's frightening, and not because he is wrong! He's clearly not!

Couldn't agree more.

Here's another link to a Bill Moyers interview from '09. It's as if they're talking about this week. If you can't spare a half hour, start it at 18:15.

Father of the A-10.

Once again, our friend, Pierre Sprey is on TV and we, as well as untold thousands of ground troops are grateful for his service to us.

Rest in peace Colonel Kay, and thank you.

Thank you Stu!

I recall when Fairchild was first delivering the A-10 to the Air Force. As a member of the Engineer's Club located in Mt. Vernon in Baltimore, Fairchild was showing a video of the A-10 that was recorded at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. The target was the M-64 main battle tank (the father of the M1-A1). The camera scanned from the tank to a tree line in the distance to catch a glimpse of a pair of A-10s coming in for the kill. It wasn't a big deal of a video until one of the aircraft fired its nose cannon that sounded like a truck engine revving up. The 20-mm spent uranium rounds hit the tank's turret and popped it off the tank like it was nothing more than a toy. WOW!!! Following that experience in later years was an aerial photograph of the desert in Iraq following the results of Desert Storm. Miles of Iraqi armor laid to waste mostly by the A-10s. Yet the brilliant morons in the Pentagon want to dump the A-10 in favor of their new toy that can't provide the type of ground support that A-10 was born to.

As a veteran of the Air Force I am disappointed that politics within the Pentagon seems now to supersede tactical common sense.

My two cents and I expect change.

The A-10 is the only aircraft designed around a gun. The 30mm gun it carried.

My mistake -- 30-mm.
