"Or make nice wood or high-tech phono headshells."

If you can make a good quality Micro-Seiki headshell, you will clean up.

For custom cases for a high end project, check out the link below. They are probably not cheap but it would be custom with holes and silk screening and the cases from China on ebay have outrageous freight costs.

If you need wood cut I have a very good table saw.

If you have a saw to rip plywood at an angle, I need a pair of large baffles cut for some badass field coil 18"s. Might have to take it as a flat pack kit so it will fit into my volvo wagon. You will never sell another pair after.[/quote]

Haven't learned how to cut angles on my saw yet, but looks like Tom can do it!

I'll look into the other stuff you mentioned!

If it is a small item, you have a world market via airmail.

European and Asian audio nuts are not as cheap as US bottom trawlers, especially DIYers. Nobody is as cheap as us!

My two friends who are German tonearm builders sell a lot of expensive handmade tonearms. It took them years to get where they are but sales are good. If you could build something like the old wood 12" broadcast arms and sell direct for $300-400, you would sell a bunch.

One thing that nobody is mentioning here is that it can take years to get established in any audio business, and usually does. Best plan is to identify a lively niche, get in there and stay in. Pick something super classic with worldwide lasting appeal.

I'd suggest parts and accessories over complete speakers, which might be one of the hardest things to sell sight unseen\heard.

Might have to take you up on that, Tom! I need "wings" for a baffle with an angle cut, so two 4' pieces ripped lengthwise at 45 deg would do it. These are for some GIP woofers modeled on the WE TA-4181. Monstrous woofers that I need to get into service.

Can do on the saw cuts. This summer is very busy so we will have to work out a mutually good time.

Selling speakers online is very difficult especially if they are large because of shipping considerations.
