Steve,

I used Volumio years ago running on a headless Raspberry Pi using a tablet/computer as a remote. The free version has basic functionality as streamer, but does not have Qobuz/Tidal integration and other features that are on the subscription version. As I remember it was decent and had a nice remote interface, but once they went to a paid subscription and hardware (streamer device) model, I looked elsewhere. They developed it into an inexpensive Roon alternative.

So really not much help, since my experience is pretty dated. I do have to say that it is worth checking out if you are in an experimental mood since it does have its fans.

David

I have it working. Without the subscriptions, many options not available. But, I did play USB music and streamed a few radio stations.

It loads via an USB thumb-drive. Not sure how to load it onto an actual hard drive. Some of the radio stations are not available, like they are defunct or somebody's wannabe radio station. Unable to figure out how to connect to another computer that has music stored on it.

They do have a support forum on their website, where there should be a whole bunch of people who actually use volumio and are actually able to help….
