Here is another great discussion by Garth Powell on AC regenerators and the problems they can create. At the end of the day, it is still better to work on the power supply in the equipment rather than try to modify the incoming mains power.

Tom,

Thanks for posting that. I will have to watch it. I have a small power regenerator (PS Audio Power Plant 300) I have been using for my digital sources, but may rearrange things to get it out of the system since not sure if it has any benefit in isolating/filtering out the HF noise associated with digital or switching power supplies. With my 5KVA isolation transformer installation, I do have two dedicated 20A circuits for my system with a separate earth ground, these are different phases, and been using one for digital and the other for audio, and that may be all I need.

Unless you're trying to make a 50hz turntable work in North America

These things are trivial to DIY these days, all you really need is a Raspberry Pi (or Arduino), a power amp, and, if desired (or necessary if your amp can't swing enough voltage), an isolation transformer for the output.
