A non-audiophile friend, a musician actually, sent this link to me.

It's a long video. Most of us would have made some different choices given an unlimited budget.

BUT everything he has done here is just amazing.

Watch the video, or don't.

The columns should have gone all the way from the floor to the ceiling assuming the drivers don't have phase and amplitude shading. I did check that the phono cartridge cost 10k$.

Ken passed away awhile back. His daughter is working with it now.

I talked to Ken about working on crossovers for his speakers, but he wanted passive crossovers. I only work on DSP XO's, so it did not work out.

Not sure what is going to happen to the system now he is gone.

Sad to hear about Ken.

Oddly enough, he mentions a couple of times in the video that the crossovers are active "so no power is lost".

Guess he changed his mind.

What impressed me the most was the workmanship, dedication and the beautiful room. All around a great accomplishment.

As to the sound, who knows? That's an awfully complex system with what has to be at least hundreds of feet of interconnects, power cords, wiring connections, switching nodes, etc.

Each of us would doubtlessly make different choices, cost no object. That wasn't the point of watching this video, for me. It was the details of the construction, the attention to that detail and the love of the project.

Stuart,
I was hoping to get to hear the system before he passed. Had heard about it since he was near Richmond,VA.

I've seen that video before and appreciate the dedication it took. Better use of the money in my view than buying a G-4. Of course, he probably had one of those too. :-D
