I ran across a video where a guy was repairing a high-end PA speaker that had a giant version of that type of horn. It was like six 12 inch drivers on the sides.

Now, my question is with that design, what are the pro's and con's? Also, with that homemade version, are the driver holes big enough for the sound?

Correction:
Six mid-range drivers and two woofers.

Steve,

The main advantage is that you have a wide band width, time aligned, point source horn, which promises a more coherent presentation, like a single driver. Still need a bass driver, but there are lots of solutions for that.
