Yes, the ability to listen to virtually anything at the moments whim, is a game changer.

Grover, you have an open-invite, stop by any time!

I don't have a vinyl setup worth spending too much time on. It's adequate for ripping the
occasional rare LP but that's about it. Frankly, streaming/digital opens a whole new world for the classical-lover. I can lush out on some gooey Thalberg bon-bons, or a Kraus wind octet, or Theodor Currentzis doing wild things with Mahler, at a click of the mouse. Marvelous! And there are some very astutue young musicians who do astonishing things with CPE Bach or a Schubert trio.

But if I had a large jazz collection, that would be a different matter. Classic modern jazz (I mean the Blue Note/Prestige etc., era) has not been well served by digital, IMO. The depth and texture of the close-miked instruments doesn't quite translate well to digital, for some reason. So I can very much see your point, Pete. I wish I were 3000 miles east to have a listen with you. ;-)

Pete,

I know you are using Holo May KTE. Maybe, Holo May can be improved by adding a upsamper/resampler the chain. Many people like HQPlayer with Holo DACs. In our group, I believe Roscoe and myself are the two people I know who has HQP. If you are interested, you can borrow my HQPlayer for a couple of week to try it out.

And also, Jussi Laako, author of HQP says, Holo DACs sound better with DSD material. His recommendation is upsample PCM sources and convert to DSD in HPQ and feed the Holo DACs for best results.

Thanks for the offer. I have heard that the Holo May and HQP are a popular combo. I use Roon on Nucleus+ so I should be able to just add HQP. There is a big thread over on Audiophile Style were they talk about HQP settings and the May, I'll need to look it over again.

No room for that in my house, just storing LPs is enough.
