I was looking a video of a guy who used regular drivers in what is essentially is an infinite baffle setup. Now, I know Roscoe used regular drivers in his open baffles. But, what are the differences in normal drivers versus free-air drivers?

Why are higher Qts drivers suited to open baffle use?

Here's an example of one that is optimized for open baffle use. There are much cheaper alternatives available......

That looks like an interesting driver. It looks almost perfect for a SLOB version of the Basszilla speakers that has been kicking around in my head for the past few years. It would not need (much) equalization, so could be completely passive. Even though I have different speakers now (Elsinore), it may be a good project.

There is the Goldwood driver that Roscoe uses on his baffle, that has a similar Qt, as I remember.
