Ever since I developed an interest in classical music, it has puzzled me why there are so few famous women composers. There are some who achieved some fame but there should be a lot more. Which leads to this woman, Louise Farrenc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Farrenc My sister recommended I listen to some of her music and this 3rd symphony is wonderful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv3LXXlmwNs It reminds me of Mendelsohn with a touch of Schubert. With a better orchestra and conductor, it would be dazzling. ray |
