Paul,

A good read and perhaps a reminder to nervous audiophiles who worry too much that there are a lot of external factors that might make things sound "off" at a particular moment, but that doesn't mean pulling things apart just because of a bad day.

I am a big believer in this.
when I suspect something and make a change I go back a few days later and undo the change for a reality check.

One of the biggest things is when changing out interconnects or speaker wires. Did things change becaude of the new wire or did they changed because you refreshed the connection?

The locals describe the climate here as 'perfect one day, better the next'. It's probably just as well that our systems sound different every time we listen since it makes life more interesting. It would get boring if our systems sounded the same all the time. Probably the way to make your system sound its best is to have an extra system that sounds really crappy. Play some music through it first, shudder, and then change to your regular system which should then sound marvellous.

I have made some progress in that I have built a workbench to eventually build amps and also installed a shelf rack to hold tools etc. You can see a photo down at the end of this blog entry.
