After spending our two weeks in quarantine in Sydney, we arrived in our new home of Urangan three days ago. Nobody is wearing masks though there is still social distancing in stores and offices. Life is pretty close to back to normal except the borders with adjacent states are closed to incoming travellers except for special dispensations.

The quarantine went better than we expected and you can read about it at

Glad to hear that you made it okay.
Also glad to hear that there is some sense of normalcy somewhere in this world.

Bruce.

Did you get clean sheets on the regular or did you have to funk it up for two weeks?

Sheets etc were replaced after one week. The bed was extremely comfortable since it was a luxury class hotel.

The hotel has been taking quarantine guests since March but the staff still seem to be enthused and helpful. In fact, whoever we talk to in Oz, they are invariably very friendly and helpful.

Today we pick up our new Honda Jazz (Fit). It should make it easier to get into our garage than the SUV we rented. Parking spaces are narrower than US parking spaces. I have been going to Australia every year for decades but this time I have to jump through hoops to get us officially settled.

Glad to see you are doing well. I noticed your new place is in Queensland which is north of New South Wales. Our house sold faster than we thought and the new house has been delayed by the virus so we are in "quarantine" in an Air B&B in North Wales, PA. Just a short distance from your New South Wales. Our best guess is that we will be in the new house middle of September.

I saw that you had a rain shower head in your temporary bathroom. In our new house I wanted a regular shower head and Marie wanted a rain head. So we did both plus a hand shower. There will be no reason to be dirty any more. Here is a photo while the shower is still under construction. The heads had not yet been installed. Best of luck in the new place. Please send photos and the address so I can see it on the map.

Tom
