This is an interesting new driver for subwoofer applications.

You did notice it weighs 116 lbs. I would think that with a cabinet (1" mdf) the weight would be at least 200 lbs. (hernia land). By the way I found out that the Woodworker's Club in Rockville has 1" and 1.5" mdf in addition to 0.75" and they will cut it on their panel saw.

The pyramid bases for my eggs with the two 12" drivers weigh 165 lbs. Not a problem unless I decide to use them as headphones.

I saw those as well. I was surprised that the vented F3 is only 29 Hz. The vented F3 on their 10" Ultimax is about 21 Hz.

YIKES! What a beast! And a long-throw beast at that! In the right box the deep bass could be seismic.

The box will need lots of bracing and casters.

With that amount of displacement and power handling I would not be worried with a driver like this about Fs. You could use EQ without worrying about problems. Also note that the sensitivity is quite high for a driver with this level of Xmax. Last year when I was at the Speaker Design Competition at PE I saw a prototype 15" woofer also with 23mm Xmax that should sell in the $200 range. I'm hoping that it will be out soon because two of those could be used in a box opposite each other to offset vibrations and also if one is facing in and the other facing out and with reversed phase you would reduce 2nd order distortion. The two would have the same linear volume displacement as one of these. Nice to have choices.
