If you decide to upgrade to Windows 10 anyway, you can still do it for free, at least you could a few months ago: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-download-windows-10-for-free-now-that-windows-7-is-dead/ I really-really-really wanted to stay with 7; however, my clients are all using 10 and I was having compatibility issues that could not be '"dialed out." And talk about a memory hog!! YIKES! I had to go from 16-g to 32-g before things calmed down. |

What comes with Ubuntu is - Libreofffice (Office Suite) Firefox (Internet Browser) Thunderbird (Email Client) You can also install (free) - Google Chrome Zoom Skype I have also found that Ubuntu (linux) is a much less likely target for hackers. Tell me what sort of programs you use and I will tell you (if I can) what linux equivalents are. For htpc/audio I use Kodi. Others in the group can tell you what they use. |

Absolutely no compatibility issues what-so-ever. Just got a work laptop with win10 |

Update: the other desktop/video card crashes as well. The common factor is when the case is placed in the desk tower slot. I never had issues before but apparently it does not have enough ventilation in the back. I was thinking about a new desk. Is there one with two tower slots/shelves? |

The desk is a wooden desk with an enclosed tower slot. There is an internal cutout for cables so it doesn't matter what case I use. |

Then either don't have the case in the desk or start cutting holes in the desk to line up with the vents on the case. |

Most recent computer cases/computer power supplies now draw cooling from the bottom of the case and space is needed at the bottom of the case. I find the less than 1/2 inch feet on the computer bottom is not really enough. Most modern cpus will slow down and eventually shut down if it gets too hot.. there are many free utilities that measure temps in a computer available on web. |
