I wouldn't do it, but modern electronic parts are hermetic. As long as he completely dries it out before energizing it he may be OK.
The computer industry was concerned with water so data centers had Halon fire suppression systems so that equipment not impacted by a fire event would not be damaged.
Halon is no longer allowed (it's very toxic) and for the most part computer room fire-suppression are now water based. As long as the EPO is enabled during a fire event the de-energized equipment can possibly tolerate wetting.
Other gaseous types are available but during my travels doing due diligent studies over several decades I haven't seen them.
Dry it out thoroughly and fire it up -- you're good to go.
