Thought this might be an interesting topic... What was the first music you bought?

My list has two, as I bought my first two albums (on cassette) at the same time:

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
The Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers

My first album was The Jackson 5's Third Album. Don't remember what 45 was first - I vividly remember my cousin bringing over "Dizzy" by Tommy Roe. I remember looking down at the record while spinning - thought it had a spiral on it, but I looked it up and maybe it was the Roulette record label.

Something from the Columbia record club. I don't remember which but some kind of jazz. What I still have is Benny Goodmans 3 LP 38 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert. Much better than the CD rerelease which has no noise but no life.

One of the worst CD transfers of all time...

Dinu Lipatti - Grieg & Schumann piano concertos.

I'd be tempted to buy the following after listening to it last night on Quboz. Beatrice Rana playing Ravel.

Like Stuart, 45s at first. Can't remember specifically what, but I do remember my 1st LP. In A Gadda Da Vida.

I did Columbia House too, that would have been where my first LPs came from, but I couldn't tell you what was in that lot, but I bet it included the first Boston album, some BTO, and Aerosmith's Toys In The Attic.

First two CDs (also bought at the same time) were Dark Side of the Moon, and Rush's Moving Pictures.

First RtR I paid for was an 1812 Karajan/Philharmonia Orchestra.
