Found out Oppo will repair my Blu-ray for $100 fixed cost. Looks like the cheapest and best option to get me what I originally asked about.

Not picking sides on this debate but some of the members have dealt with USB noise by using a separate linear supply or battery for the USB power. Another problem with using a computer is the noise generated in the PC power supply being filtered by the internal PC noise filter to the PC supply ground which can lead to system wide noise if the ground in not really stiff. This was mentioned in detail in an earlier thread. As usual there i no silver bullet, only good design and compromises for any path.
