Attach 28 pin SMD to pcb

July 19th, 2019, 11:09 pm

Would anyone know of someone who can reliably attach 28 pin SMD chips to SMD adaptors. I have successfully soldered 14 pins and that was a real eye job but 28 pins is beyond me. Someone who does reflow and close to Rockville would be great but I will work with anyone in DMV

I also have a hot air reflow station I can loan you. You might need to practice with 28 pin chips. I live in North Potomac.

Pelliot321,
Baltimore is close to me. Is there private messaging on this system? lets connect and talk more.

Thanks TOMP for the offer. I will take you up on the learning path of me doing it myself another time. Need to work with an expert right now.

Pelliot321,
Thanks for doing such a great job on soldering the 28 pin IC to the PCB it continues to amaze me at how professional it looks. I learnt a lot and you inspired me to order a reflow station ($38) and fix that other board I brought in. I also enjoyed listening to you outstanding system. Look forward to getting you involved in my next electronics challenge.

Derek came by on Saturday. I was able to solder the 28 pin chip with low temp solder paste with the hot air rework machine. I think it was more luck than skill at this point. I do this type of work very often. I did practice on a couple of test boards I got off eBay just to get temp right and to make sure I had all my ducks in a row.
This was the smallest device I have done.
It was great to meet Derek. We had a good time sharing Audiophile stories
