I use Earasers at Rock shows.

https://www.earasers.net/

They seem to work well and not completely kill the sonics like most earplugs.

But honestly, no my ears are not what they used to be. I race cars, shoot guns and go to concerts. My ears have taken a beating. I do use ear pro religiously but not when I was much younger. I had a bout of tinnitus about 10 years ago (thankfully it was temporary and went away) and the ear doc did a hearing test which was completely normal for my age. That said, If you think your hearing at 50+ is even close to what it was when you were ~20, you are delusional. Normal age related hearing loss is fairly dramatic, look up the specs if you want to be depressed. Hearing acuity seems to be only part of the equation that makes up discerning listening and overall enjoyment in the musical experience. No golden ears here but I can usually hear component changes within seconds without much difficulty.

I got tinnitus about 25 years ago when I took her up the clock tower in Brisbane. The bells struck at the hour and I covered her ears but had to leave my right ear exposed. For quite some time afterwards, I could tell how loud the Philly Orchestra was playing by when the tinnitus started up. I don't seem to suffer so much now.

Since the subject has digressed to 'artists you were lucky enough to see', my top four were

Gilels in Copenhagen 1974
Michelangeli in Geneva 1974
Richter in London 1989
Pavarotti in Philly in a recorded performance of Il Palliacci 1993 (our seats cost under $10 each)

The best description of the Richter piano recital setting was 'He came on stage like a butler who has poisoned the port'. There are some youtube videos of the performance including this encore version on Chopin Op 10 # 4 which brought the house down.

When he was younger, he could do it even faster.
