Hmmm. Interesting. No heterodyne noises, no static, late-night skip could be crystal clear.

I recall when I was a young lad I was gifted with a Hallicrafters muti-band receiver. It needed restoration work and I was proud of the fact that I was able to get it working. I finished the project with an inverted "L" long-wire antenna strung in the back yard of the house where I grew up. I spent hours at night listening to skip from all over the world. What an experience!
