For me it's a lot of fun. My modest dedicated home-theater system is comprised of a 5.1 speaker system with two full-range (-3-db @ 26-Hz.) front speakers together with a center-channel and two wall-mounted line-source speakers for the rear channels.
Electronically I get the job done with a decent current production 5.1 channel A/V receiver that is surprisingly musical.
Bombs in war movies shake the room. The surround sound works as advertised with surprises coming out the left or right rear channels like someone entering the room in the movie from behind -or- hearing dialog from behind -or- aircraft flying over from the front to back.
It's all cool. Video-wise I view on a 4K flat screen supported by an OPPO 4K player that has the remarkable capability to scale up Blu-Ray and standard DVDs to the 4K screen with no tell-tale artifacts. I am still surprised to this day how well the OPPO scales ordinary NTSC DVDs to the 4K screen.
