another phono preamp

April 2nd, 2017, 11:53 am

this is from http://www.psaudio.com/article/39395/
I believe its a pretty standard circuit.
PS Audio made it very simple to get pcb and parts. designed to run on 9 volt batteries. I had ps laying around so I used it, running at 14vdc
Still breaking in and sound pretty good
this is MM only. I am using it with a SUT so gain is at minimum, loading 47k
chips are OPA2134 in first stage and LM4562 in 2nd stage

It will be interesting to bring to a shoot-out and compare it to other pre-amps. Maybe I can build my pre-amp and compare with yours!

time to put it in a nice box. As of now it will not replace my tube preamp I built six or seven years ago, but go on the shelf as a spare. It was a Transendent Sound kit. It uses the Russian 6C45pi in first stage and 12AX7 in second.
I keep looing for a better preamp but have not found it yet. It needs a PS upgrade of a larger B+ transformer and more dampening in the case.
