I know I am way behind the curve or maybe the 8 ball

I just got my RaspberryPi music server up and running. Last spring this was a hot topic.
So when I finally decided to pull the trigger the RPi3 had came out and this noob bought the latest hardware, not knowing that the software (Volumio, moode, rune) had not caught up to the RPi3 yet.
So I put the project aside and went on to other things.
So noodling around on the cloud I discovered that things caught up and I downloaded and burned images of the three packages and tried them out.
Rune seems to be the most sophisticated, but reported buggy( I have not found any problems yet)
I prefer Volumio's interface, better, but Rune's web radio list is more extensive and its is easier to make your own list. MoOde would be my last choice.
I think I am hearing an improvement in sound over my Win10/JRiver music server. Maybe the RPi is less noisy. Also I was using a very long USB cable to get the big computer always from my sound system, where the RPi sever is close to the DAC. This will be less important when I add isolation and regeneration to my Twisted Pear DAC next month
This was fun to do and I am amazed that $35 computer works so well.
I will still need my Win10/JRiver machine for ripping CD's and downloading hires files to the NAS.
