OK, so Walt says the cable sounds great, but a a pain to terminate....

:confusion-confused: So, Walt, what makes the cable a paint to terminate, and what tricks/pointers can you give us to make it easier?

As I mentioned in the thread in New User Introductions, if you buy a piece from ebay seller svstore, make him a low offer, he took $175 for a piece he had listed at $290, YMMV ;)

Extreme care, a thermal stripper, and very sharp single-edged razor blade gets the job done. Cardas silver RCAs work well with the Phaseflex. Shot gunning for a balanced line (XLR) is another issue entirely. I used gutted gender changers because of the available diameter of the barrel that can just barely take the twin cables.

And of course you finish with adhesive lined thick shrink tubing. Maybe my picture -- when you click on it to blow it up -- can illustrate the final appearance of the terminations.

By the way -- I almost forgot the link to the "Cardas" connectors. Either the vendor is the OEM to Cardas or a copier the connectors are of a high quality to use with the Phaseflex.

Walt's system is one of the most musical systems I have ever heard.
You can be assured that he is not blowing smoke.
The devil is in the details and Walt cover these details to the nth degree

Thank you Paul for your kind words. I've been at it since age 16 and have had my share of "pain" along the way to try to get "The Absolute Sound" in my own living room.

This hobby is still the gift that keeps on giving. :D

I ordered the 9 meter cable I referenced in my introduction thread too. Offered $150 and he accepted. That was before I knew I could make an even lower-ball offer. I typically use the KLE Innovations harmony RCA plugs, so I will try those first unless it's too tricky to terminate. It would be interesting to see how these compare to my silver solid wire in oversized teflon tube interconnects... But that won't happen until early next month.

Should we start another thread about speaker cables? I am interested to see what speaker wire people use.

Don't get me started on speaker wire. LOL! I use Andrew Heliax and it was one of those experiences that took my system to another level entirely.

Look in the catalog and check out the air dielectric, plenum-rated stuff.
