Sorry Roscoe, I was writing while you posted.
Took a look at the DF1704 datasheet. It couldn't be as simple as connecting pins 6 to 7 could it? XTI to XTO? In Lite's implementation, XTO has no connection.

No. Pin 6 needs a genuinely external; clock source, pin 7 is used to provide clock to other devices when the DF1704 is running on it's own internal clock. Needing to keep the SP/DIF & AES/EBU inputs increases the complexity quite a bit....

To get the I2S Bus working from the USB to I2S Bus board, you will need to disconnect the four lines going from the 8414 to the DF1704 filter and replace them with the ones from the board.
Usually they are:
SDATA
BCLK
LRCLK
MCK
And:
Ground
MCK becomes the XTI input on the filter chip.
You will have to verify with the datasheet of the DF1704 that the clocking from the I2S Bus input is compatible with the USB board that is chosen. Look at the clock frequencies for each sample rate and verify that they are compatible.
The DF1704 will not do DSD, so those outputs are left open on the USB board.
The names for the lines on the Amanero board I listed are very similar to the board's naming.
Hope that helps.

I have been building/using Twisted Pear Audio Buffalo DAC for a few years now, upgrading as they bring out new DACs
I just ordered an Amanero board to add to my Bullalo SE
The also have isolation and reclocking boards too
http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/digital/amanero.aspxI will let you know how it works. I am not doing the isolation or reclocking yet

The Amanero USB board sounds very good here with the TPA Opus DAC module. I ran the setup on batteries and sounded about the best of any DAC I had tried.
HiRez on a budget!

There is also an isolator chip ISO7640fm that is mentioned on the Amanero site cost about $7 from digikey and you can get a free board from diythk
