So -- after all is said and done -- is vinyl worth the effort? YOU BET!!!

Roscoe has a good point. Same probably goes for the varying thicknesses of the vinyl, which much is made of.

Theoretically vinyl thickness could have an impact, but I have not noticed any negatives going from a standard LP that my adjustment is based on to a 180 or 200 gram LP.

Actually, the thicker stuff is typically "audiophile" stuff and sounds better (if mastered and cut well) than the more pedestrian efforts.

Not talking about vinyl quality just how thickness affects the vta which affects the sound. Pressing quality is just another variable in the insanity

What Roscoe is talking about is the fore and aft movement of the rrest position of the stylus, not the VTA.

Vinyl is worth the effort irrespective of any quality differences. There is a lot of great music out there that has never gone digital. To ignore that because of any particular technology technology is short changing yourself.
