You're not using a separate motor then: the motor will be in the bottom of the plinth? I forget things so easily.

The Garrard is a rim drive, so the motor is under the platter. That's why the legs are so long, otherwise there wouldn't be enough clearance for the motor....

4.5" clearance necessary on the 301. just measured it last week.

I have been thinking about soapstone for years. Any sources?
