My order from DigKey arrives Friday including some surface mount LME49720 op amps and some surface mount to dip8 adapters. I want to be able to change op amps without unsoldering from the circuit board. I have installed KiCad for linux to lay out the circuit board. Has anyone in the group used that software before?

Do any of you have a recommendation for a usb oscilloscope? One that could run under linux would be preferred.

I love my Picoscope. David McGown has one too, I think. The base 2204 is very good for general audio use, the 2206 offers more bandwidth in the built-in signal generator, up to 1MHz.

Although more expensive, you might want to consider a separate oscilloscope. This way you don't tie up your computer while taking measurements. I sometimes use my laptop to run the application ARTA for speaker or electronics measurements while looking at the waveform on the scope. Here is a very competent reasonably priced scope that is about twice the price of the cheapest Picoscope.

I have used one of these for several years now and have had great results. It replaced a basic Tek scope but this one has lots more functions for about 1/3 the price.

I have six computers, my mainframe, three htpc's, a test bed for trying new things out, and a laptop. I will use the laptop with the pico scope (it dual boots ubuntu 20.04 and win 10). Here is the mainframe. It runs ubuntu 20.04 and win 10 as a virtual machine using vmware player (free).
