Have you measured the impedance of the midrange and AMT at the crossover point? You can then plug the crossover component values into any of the numerous calculators on-line to see if the the mid and high 6 dB points are at the same frequency. If not, there could be a delay built into the crossover that is not obvious.

The xover is only a 2nd order one coil, one cap for each leg.

Fine, but do you know the crossover frequency for each driver? Plus, a simple two pole filter can take on a number of different filter properties. Check out this link and look at the crosover type list.
