Right now, it is two runs from the router to a couple of hubs where the various PCs are at. I want to increase internal speed for faster file transferring among one another without having to rebuild everything.

What is the current speed and what speed you need and what is your budget.

If your a $200-$400 to spend, go to best boy and explain your network to the techie.

If you are looking for a free stufff
1. Determine speed of your switches and hubs.
2. Go on eBay and look for used stuff. You get tons of 4-5year old stuff for next to nothing

Try the one shown on this page:

Or this one:
For the second set of tests, I used an application that I discovered when trying to get the measure of some 10GbE networking gear that was on the test bed. Many of the current test products had difficulty measuring the full performance capabilities of a 10GbE network, but I did find a couple of applications that showed promise for normal test speeds. TamoSoft Throughput Test v1.0, Build 19 was the best of the bunch, especially in its ease of use and real-time graphical display of throughput.

Just copy 100 mg I from a computer on one hub to a computer on another hub and time it. This is a real test of useful information

The fastest way to transport large amounts of data from room to room is to unplug your USB terrabyte drive, walk to the other room and plug it into the other computer.
