Almost done. Hopefully tonight I will have them completed, then the fun begins after all the hard work!

They are done. They sound incredible. Coherent, effortless, and they disappear. I am sure I have more than a little "builder's pride", but these are the best speakers I have had in my system. :D

Picture below. I still need to play around with placement, toe-in and/or listening position in my room. I placed them where I had the previous setup, but found that if I leaned forward in my seat on the sofa, the speakers snapped in focus (not that they were much out of focus). I also like a little more toe-in than shown in the picture. My hybrid amp seems perfect for them. The speakers do totally disappear, I am not aware of any sound coming from the speakers themselves, the sound just develops at plane of the speakers and extends back. Really good image height. Tonally, the speakers are even balanced, maybe slightly tilted to warmth, but need to break in more to see how the highs develop. I can control that to an extent by toe-in, since the speaker is designed to listen slightly off axis, and toe-in can be used to adjust high frequency balance. Right now, nothing seems to call attention to itself. The bass response with the four (4) 6-1/2 drivers is impressive, I do not need subwoofers with these.

Talking about subwoofers, unfortunately while moving the second of my subs down to the basement, the handcart and strap failed as I was going down the stairs, and the subwoofer tumbled down the last few steps to the floor. It landed on the plate amp, so fins were pretty bent up (easy to replace), but it also crushed one corner of the cabinet. I had used 1/4 oak veneer plywood and bullnose molding overtop of 1-1/4" MDF, it was the plywood and molding that was crushed, but the MDF cabinet appears intact. I will have to figure out how to best repair the damage, but may end up patching (Bondo) and painting the cabinets. I have plenty of Duratex left.

Speakers look great Dave, nice project. Maybe we'll get to hear them before the holidays set in?

To all,

Lets keep November in mind, things are too busy currently, besides, my wife is overworked right now and I am walking on eggshells at home. She has some deadlines the first week of November, so after that things should be better.

I will make sure to save some beer for Roscoe.

Looks a lot nicer than the sub/sat setup. As Roscoe said, will provide "expert" listening feedback for........beer! :obscene-drinkingcheers:

What is the efficiency of these speakers? Low 90s?
