It's telling me that I already have the best driver.

If Windows is reporting it as an unknown device there is no driver. Download the driver from the link and install it.

USB PnP Sound Device - "Don't support this platform"

The driver is for Windows 8 but I have Windows 7.

According to the ini file the installer supports from 98 on. Try running it in compatibility mode.

I hooked up that little Jolida mini-DAC I had and works fine on USB. Shows up in Sound (Burr-Brown Japan PCM2702) and I can set it as default. I give up. It will play on optical but not USB.

Did you try DaveR's suggestion, or just change the DAC?

I can't get the Pop Pulse to work on USB with this PC. It will work on optical.
