I just received a pair of Heyboer Peerless S-265-Q output transformers this week, so working on converting the stereo EL34 Williamson amp I built a year ago (using UTC LS-55 OTs) to a Musicians Amplifier (807/KT66 UL), increasing output from 15W to just under 30W. Next project after that is my GM70 SET amp, which needs a driver upgrade for sufficient voltage swing (and current output) ensure A2 operation, thinking about a 6P5 into parallelled sections of a 5687, IT coupled to the GM70 grid. I should be able to get at least 30W with this setup). Other than that, the project pool is kind of shallow for now...more time for listening. OH MY GOD!! Please do not touch your GM-70s. They are glorious as they are right now. You may make a change that will kill the magic. |

Can't wait to get to your house and hear the Nesties in their new home. Went by Charlie's and heard the Contrivas. Very refined. I think you are on the right track, getting more Class A power from your power amps. One observation I had every time at Charlie's was that the Nesties craved more power. He was/is aware. Same situation with the Contrivas. Only obvious at room filling levels with lots of low frequency energy. For some reason, Class A watts always "sound" more powerful than AB. So, hopefully your amps will do your speakers justice! Your project pool is only shallow in your mind!!! It's amazing to many of us! Slick |

The towers literally use STOA drivers - and top-of-the-line crossover parts. The cabinets are insanely heavy and resonance-free. The MT next to the towers might be one of the best 2-ways I have ever heard. |

I recently started a large floorstander - designed by the same person that designed Sven's speakers (JonMarsh - at HTGuide). The are somewhat similar to Tom's egg speaker. The system will incldue: - Tweeter: BlieSMa T34A-4 - Midwoofer: PuriFi Midwoofer - Bass: Dayton Audio RSS315-HFA-8 (wired in parallel) |

Very cool! Must be hard working with all those angles, I had to make 15 jigs to assemble the eggs and bases. Tom |

Thanks, Dave/Tom Just looking at the pictures now - they look enormous - but they really aren't. They may be largish - but really not all that big. That picture makes them look huge. They are similar in size to The Egg speaker - perhaps a tad taller (they are about 58"/59") - but with a smaller footprint. |

Does that put the tweeters above ear level when seated? |
